This day marks 2 years 4 months of my Full-time National Service, as well as my being Operational Ready. This has been a great learning sojourn, and this learning will go on. Yes sir, it will go on.

(L-R) Ceyang, Eugene, LTC Tan (Commanding Officer), Jianwen, yiQ.

Through thick and thin and finally to ORD.

Auntie and I

Auntie and me. I’ve spent 2 years 4 months working alongside her, she spent the same amount of time shovelling food into my mouth.

Jessie and I

Jessie and me. Despite being relatively new (taking over Erica), she has settled herself comfortably in the unit and established herself as a vertically-challenged big sister!

Crazy Kids

(L-R) Jianwen, yiQ, Max, Jireh(Back)

The legendary and awe-inspiring Crazy Big Kids~ The insane Saturday afternoons at Sentosa, Roller-blading at Esplanades, and Adrenaline-pumping Night cycling. Name an adventure, and CBK most probably was there already.

Receiving my COS and NRIC

Receiving the Certificate of Service (COS) and Civilian Identification card (NRIC) from my staff officer CPT Brian. *Spot Jireh in the picture?*

My Beloved CBT Section

(L-R) Front Row: CPT Brian, Max, Ms Chua (Chief Clerk), Jessie
Back Row: Jireh, Huang Peng (My Understudy), yiQ, Auntie Lim

CBT Section is a wonderful family, full of fun, joy and care. I’ll be back to visit often!

Crazy celebratory dinner at Suntec Sizzlers

(L-R) Songyu, Aldric, Koonyen, yiQ

After a long day at work taking photographs, the entire cohort moves to Suntec Sizzlers for our celebratory dinner! Well… apparently we’re being caught in the act here… but I’d still insist I’m straight!

The whole cohort stoning outside Esplanade Library

(Clockwise) Ceyang, Eugene, Aldric, Songyu, Mac, Andrew, Xunming, Yanjie, Phng, Liguang

Stoning outside esplanade library, enjoying the last gathering… it’s been a long way since PTE Party, LCP Party, 1-year-service Party,  CPL Party, 2-year-service Party and now ORD Party. Memories… beautiful memories…

Before ORD.

Before Freedom.

Before having so much time that would make me feel lost and decadent.

I remember, when you were first appointed ACGS(Pers),
I was but a representative to reflect opinions
In a dialogue for you to get the know your people
Unexpectedly, you captivated the floor
When you cut the red tape of the system, and of our minds
You empowered us, inspired us, and motivated us.

After my stint in The project,
All the more I was sure that you had all the brains and the charm.
You read our actions like the back of your hand.
You had all the answers before we asked our questions.
You were a visionary, you saw a land of milk and honey.

It is regretful, sorrowful and unfortunate that you have left us
26 Mar 2006, a dreadful day to remember,
But your legacy lives on, in each of us that you have inspired
With Guts and Passion,
With People first,
Yes Sir, We shall carry on. We shall carry on.

An officer from the Singapore Armed Forces died while participating in the Singapore Biathlon at East Coast Park on Sunday. Colonel Bernard Tan Cheow Han, 39, collapsed and died after nearly completing the 10-kilometre run. He was just 600 metres away from the finishing line. The colonel had earlier finished a 1.5-kilometre swim before the run. SAFRA which is also the organiser of the event says immediate medical attention was given to Colonel Tan at about 10am. He was sent to Changi General Hospital and was pronounced dead at about 11am. The cause of death is still being investigated by the police. More than 1,700 people took part in the biathlon which included the chiefs of army and navy. Colonel Tan was the Assistant Chief of the General Staff in charge of army personnel matters. He was married with two young daughters aged two and seven. - CNA
